A local electrician's site, rebuilt in Astro

Lead In Electrical came to us on a slow, plugin-heavy WordPress site. We rebuilt it in Astro, did the full local-SEO groundwork, and handed back a site that scores near-perfect in Google's own tests.

A local electrician's site, rebuilt in Astro

Lead In Electrical is a Yamba and Clarence Valley electrician - twenty-plus years in the trade, licensed in both QLD and NSW, and the kind of local business that lives or dies on people finding them when they search. The problem was the website: a slow, plugin-heavy WordPress build that was hard to find and slower to load. We rebuilt it in Astro, and this is what changed.

The starting point

The old site did what a lot of small-business WordPress sites do - it worked, but only just. Every page spun up PHP and a stack of plugins before a visitor saw anything, the design was inherited from a theme rather than built for the business, and there was very little underneath it working for local search. For a trade that competes on "electrician near me", that last part is the expensive one.

What we built

We rebuilt the site page by page in Astro - fast static HTML with a cleaner, purpose-built design - and migrated every piece of content across. No page builder, no plugin stack to patch, and hosting that costs a fraction of managed WordPress. But the real work for a local trade is the search groundwork, and that is where most of the value landed.

Every SEO signal carried across - then improved

A WordPress-to-Astro move only works if the search equity comes with it. On top of the usual migration hygiene, we did the local-SEO work a trade site actually needs:

  • A dedicated page for every service - switchboard upgrades, electrical rewiring, emergency callouts, air-conditioning installation, lighting and powerpoints, and smoke-alarm installation - each one written to rank on its own rather than buried in a single "services" list.
  • A dedicated page for every location served - Yamba, Maclean, Iluka, Grafton and the wider Clarence Valley - so a local search lands on specific, relevant content instead of a generic homepage.
  • Titles, meta descriptions and headings rewritten around local search intent, with a clean, crawlable heading structure on every page.
  • LocalBusiness schema, an XML sitemap and a full 301 redirect map, so every old URL points to its new home and no ranking was left behind in the move.
  • Consistent business details and click-to-call throughout, matching the Google Business Profile so the signals line up across the web.

The result

Because Astro ships plain static HTML, the speed gains are dramatic - and speed is a ranking signal. The rebuilt site scores near-perfect in Google's PageSpeed Insights:

Google PageSpeed Insights scores for leadinelectrical.com.au - Performance 99, Accessibility 94, Best Practices 100, SEO 100
Google PageSpeed Insights, desktop - captured 12/07/2026.

Performance 99, Accessibility 94, Best Practices 100, SEO 100 - the kind of numbers a plugin-laden WordPress site rarely gets near without constant tuning. More importantly for Lead In Electrical, the site now has a page ready to rank for each service in each town they cover, loading in milliseconds on the phones their customers actually use.
